Google My Business optimization should be high on your priority list as it’s the MOST critical ranking signal for local search.
To give your business the highest probability of showing up in Google Search/Maps for searches relevant to your business, take a look at the checklist of GMB optimizations below to help you achieve this:
1- Claimed and verified profile for each location (if multi-location) ✔️
2- Accurate NAPU (ie. name, address, phone number, and website URL) – this should match the info on your site!
3- Select all relevant categories for your business.

Choose the single best term that describes your business in the primary category, then add 2 or 3 extra categories in the additional categories section.

4- Upload new photos & videos to each location’s profile regularly (about once a month). 📸📹

This can include photos of the outside and inside of your location, your team, your offerings, etc.

Uploading photos and videos of your business allows for increased search visibility and provides you with the ability to communicate your brand story to interested searchers. It also makes your profile look much more active and complete.

5- Reviews are especially important in making your GMB profile stand out because they have the biggest impact on your reputation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s one challenge to get your business to show up in Google Maps as 1 of the 3-pack options, but it is a whole other challenge to stand out from these 3.

Creating a review strategy for your GMB is crucial in any local campaign.

Whether it be a free t-shirt for a review, an entry for a raffle drawing in exchange for a review, or any other variation of this – it is best to have some sort of strategy in place to ensure you are collecting 5-star reviews to build a strong GMB profile that entices clicks and interactions.

6- Take advantage of having a keyword-rich business description.

This is because there are not many opportunities in the GMB to add content that you want to rank for.

With the description, however, you have the opportunity to include these keywords that will help Google understand what your business is all about and what type of searches it should show your profile for.

By doing this, you are increasing your chances of ranking for your target keywords.

7- Use Q&A content, business attributes (ie. hours), & Google posts to highlight events, promotions, and useful content. 💯

The more complete your GMB profile is, the better for both conversions & SEO.
